Durham, NC - Durham, NC - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janta Sutha Ball, who left this world at the age of 72 on Thursday, June 20, 2025, at her home in Durham, North Carolina. Janta was born on June 28, 1953, in the beautiful city of Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Janta embarked on a brave new chapter of her life when she moved to the United States in 1974, embracing her new home with determination and grace. Her journey culminated in 2008, a proud moment when she officially became an American citizen.

Janta was a woman whose life was defined by her remarkable strength, unwavering kindness, and a loving spirit that illuminated the lives of everyone she encountered. She possessed a unique gift for bringing people together, most notably through her extraordinary culinary talents. Her kitchen was often the heart of her home, filled with the aroma of delicious Thai and international dishes, lovingly prepared for her cherished family and a wide circle of friends. Cooking for others was not just a hobby for Janta; it was a profound expression of her love and generosity.

Her adventurous spirit led her to frequently travel, with her most treasured journeys visiting Thailand where she reconnected with extended family and embraced her cultural roots. Janta found immense joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life: spending quality time, laughing, and creating memories with her daughters, grandchildren, and friends. Her peaceful retreat was her vibrant garden, which she meticulously tended with dedication and care, often accompanied by her loyal canine companion, who brought her immeasurable comfort and happiness.

Janta was a truly devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and an incomparable friend. Her presence was a source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Janta is survived by her former husband, Bennett Ball; her three loving daughters, Weepargorn Donnell, Kanya V. Vose, and Sarinya L. Ball; and her devoted son-in-law, Glen Donnell. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jaturong Donnell, Anchali Donnell, Kulup Donnell, William B. Vose, and Waylon J. Vose. Her memory will forever be treasured by her family and friends both in the United States and Thailand.
